The Gabonese Football Federation (FEGAFOOT) confirmed on Wednesday that Bupendza passed away following a fall from the eleventh floor of his apartment building. "The Gabonese international passed away after falling from the eleventh floor of his building in China, where he was playing for Zhejiang FC," the federation said in an official statement. " At the age of 28, Boupendza leaves us with the memory of a legendary striker who made an impression during Cameroon's Africa Cup of Nations.

 Boupendza's successful and promising career Boupendza joined CF Mounana in Gabon in 2015 to start his professional career. After that, he relocated to Hatayspor, Turkey.

Before joining Bordeaux in France, he first relocated to Hatayspor in Turkey, where he trained with their reserve squad. He scored 22 goals in 36 games during his breakthrough season in 2020, solidifying his place among the top forwards in the Turkish Süper Lig. In 2023, Boupendza signed a contract with FC Cincinnati, marking his first appearance in Major League Soccer (MLS). He helped the team's attacking line before leaving in August 2024. Soon after, he joined Romania's Liga I team Rapid Bucureti, and then he joined Zhejiang FC in China. With four goals and two assists in just six games for Zhejiang FC, Boupendza had already made an impression and seemed tobe returning to form .
